Understanding Addiction

Treating Substance Use Disorder is a complex journey, filled with support, accountability, and compassionate counseling. It takes a team to overcome substance use disorder. Your path to substance abuse recovery is more than just “stopping” substance use. It’s about healing both the mind and the body, addressing the reasons we’ve struggled, and learning entirely new life patterns.

Treating substance use disorder is a multifaceted journey that often requires a combination of counseling and support. It’s not just about stopping drug use – it’s about healing the mind and body, addressing the underlying reasons that led to addiction, and learning healthier life patterns.

Medication-assisted treatment combines medication with counseling and behavioral therapy. Think of us as accountability partners. We want to give you what you need to feel comfortable so you can start your healing journey. Medication-assisted treatment with Buprenorphine medication, like Suboxone, is especially successful in treating Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).

Buprenorphine, the active ingredient in Suboxone, is the most effective medication to treat people with addiction to opioids, such as Heroin, Fentanyl, Oxycodone, and Hydrocodone. Studies report that 90-95% of patients with addiction to opioids are unable to maintain sobriety without medication assistance. We’re about long-term growth. Buprenorphine is also an opioid, but so weak acting that patients are unlikely to feel any intoxicating effects during treatment. Even at very high doses, it won’t stop an adult from breathing, which is the primary cause of death from stronger opioids. When taken regularly in stable doses, Buprenorphine prevents withdrawal symptoms and helps reduce cravings, allowing patients to feel normal again.

Everyone’s path to long-term recovery is a winding journey, with different turns for everyone experiencing it, and knowing how to take your next steps can be as daunting as the pain substance abuse brings. Your path to addiction recovery is a journey in discovering yourself, finding your joy, and discovering peace outside of addiction. Long-term substance abuse recovery isn’t just about staying sober; it’s about finding meaning and joy where there wasn’t before.

Behavioral Health Services: a Step towards Addiction Recovery

Having someone in your corner, like a telehealth therapist, is absolutely crucial to long-term substance abuse recovery. Counseling provides a safe space to explore deep-rooted issues, foster new personal growth, and start emotional healing. Having an accountability partner, like a therapist, and even someone just to stand beside you, is as important to your recovery as your sobriety.

Family therapy, where a client engages with those closest to them in a safe setting, can be one of the most powerful tools for your recovery. Not only is it a grounded way to take accountability, but it’s a pathway to emotional healing between our clients and their families. Family therapy helps you learn interpersonal boundaries, facilitates healing, and mends relationships that no one should ever lose.

Group therapy offers a unique dynamic where individuals can share experiences, learn from each other, and feel a sense of belonging (without judgement). It’s a space for mutual support and collective healing, where members inspire and motivate each other, creating a powerful communal path to substance addiction recovery.

Peer support groups, such as NA, MA, CA, and Smart Recovery offer empathy and understanding from those who have walked a similar path, fostering a sense of community and shared strength. It’s also an opportunity to help others who are struggling, a process that is extremely reinforcing to substance use patients’ resolve to stay sober.
